LYNX Control Systems

Introduction

All LYNX products support remote control, status monitoring and error reporting with optional SNMP reporting to external network devices. From a single stand alone MiniModule using a Service Adapter to hundreds of racks of Series 3000 and Series 5000 Modules located in different locations we have a control solution to suit any system application.

Expandability

The control system has been designed for simple and cost effective expansion. The control system can be added to any system at any time with no modifications required to existing racks or modules. We provide three controller options which are configured depending on the physical system installation. You only buy what you want when you need it with no redundancy of existing hardware when expansions are made

Connectivity

We offer both Serial and LAN connectivity for the control system, which depends on the size of the installation and user preferences. When using LAN the communication is standard TCP/IP so the system can operate on any standard private or public network.

Control System Hardware

We offer three hardware controllers which are chosen depending on the physical system installation and customer connectivity requirements. We also have introduced a simple 1RU control panel for use in locations where there is not the room or need for a PC. The control panel can be used standalone or as an integrated part of the PC based system. Network connectivity for the control panel means multiple panels can be supported and located virtually anywhere in the facility.

Control System Software

The control system software is intuitive and simple to use and will operate on a standard Windows PC. A simple windows GUI with on screen sliders, buttons and drop down menus provides for simple module control, configuration and monitoring. The software "self configures" when connected to LYNX hardware by scanning the system logging all connected devices and displaying system status. If the system is expanded (or reduced) in size the control system will automatically adapt to the new system configuration. Nothing could be simpler. Some GUI screenshots are provided below.

SNMP Support

Optional SNMP support allows the user to configure any or all system alarm conditions and have these transmitted to external systems connected to the network. When using the SNMP option all LYNX modules are SNMPv2 compliant.

Test Drive the Control System

The control system software now features a special “simulation mode” where a multiple rack system including all Lynx modules can be fully simulated in the control system. All Module GUI screens are fully functional with on screen sliders, drop down menus and software buttons. Now you can see for yourself the intuitive nature of the system and explore the wide range of adjustments and parameters currently supported by all Lynx modules. We also provide a way to simulate module alarms so you can observe how the system displays and logs system errors.
